The Miami Herald is reporting that due to the recent “fall camp slump,” many first team Hurricanes and been taken out of their coveted black jersey’s. LB Denzel Perryman has been reduced to wearing a yellow jersey, not the black one that he is accustomed to. Perryman needs to be pushed harder, said Golden, “…he needs to be the play-maker we know he can be.”
The only two player’s wearing black jersey’s were defensive end Shayon Green and punter Dalton Botts.
DE Anthony Chickillo has also been seen wearing a yellow jersey (limited). Chickillo says that he has been suffering from the stomach flu and Golden said that it is in fact a sinus infection. In any event, it will be nice to have the stud defensive end back at full strength.
Golden addressed LB Gionni Paul and the injury that he sustained to his knee. Golden said that he “was pleased that he [Paul] fought through the special teams scrimmage…” I was looking forward to seeing what this youngster had to offer on the field pre-injury. Hope he gets better sooner rather than later. Lately it seems as if the ‘Canes linebackers have been dropping like flies.
Seantrel Henderson did not attend practice today. He is currently back home in Minnesota to attend a funeral.
Also, WR Allen Hurns did not participate in today’s practice. He was wearing a red jersey (no-contact) and the coach said, “We’re just being careful with his head.” Hurns is expected to be the no.1 receiver this year.
For those nearby, ‘Canesfest will be this Saturday. What is ‘Canesfest you ask?
‘Canesfest gives fans the opportunity to meet and socialize with their favorite ‘Canes and coaches. The event will take place at the BankUnited Center from 4-7 pm.
Players will sign autographs and game tickets will be available for purchase. Should be a good time for all.
