Well that wasn’t the performance that we all had hoped for. What a bummer.
The ‘Canes suffered a crushing 52-13 loss courtesy of the Kansas State Wildcats. Miami (1-1) gave up 52 points to no.22 Kansas State (2-0), the most since Syracuse handed the ‘Canes a 66-13 beat down back in 1998.
Colin Klein ripped the Miami defense apart completing 9-of-11 passes for 210 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 81 yards and totaled three rushing touchdowns of 1,6 and 1 yards. The Wildcats scored six rushing touchdowns in all.
Kansas State went into halftime leading the ‘Canes by a score of 24-6., a deficit that Miami couldn’t overcome. WR Allen Hurns left the game during the ‘Canes first drive and RB Eduardo Clements fumbled the football while attempting a first-down conversion. The fumbled was recovered by former UM LB Arthur Brown.
QB Stephen Morris was 19-of-25 for 214 yards and fumbled the football twice. Back-up QB Ryan Williams hit TE Clive Walford for a touchdown as the game came to a close. Walford led the receivers with three catches for 61 yards.
Miami’s running attack didn’t fare well against the Kansas State defense. Freshman Duke Johnson was held to 22 yards on seven carries and Mike James rushed for 26 yards on eight carries.
Kansas State dominated the second half and Wildcat RB John Hubert tallied 109 yards on 19 carries against the ‘Canes porous defense.
In their first two games, Miami has given up 84 points, the most in school history.
