College basketball is swiftly approaching and the ‘Canes enter their second season under head coach Jim Larranaga. The Blue Ribbon Yearbook lists Miami at No. 24 amongst their preseason Top 25 poll.

Miami boasts a tough schedule this season, hosting three Top 10 teams at the BankUnited Center: No. 7 Michigan State (Nov. 28), No. 6 Duke (Jan. 23) and No. 9 North Carolina (Feb. 9). The ‘Canes will travel to face No. 9 North Carolina (Jan. 10), No. 4 NC State (Feb. 2), and No. 6 Duke (Mar. 2). Look for Miami to possibly face No. 16 Arizona in the Diamond Head Classic (Honolulu, HI.) on Dec. 23.
In 2011, Larranaga posted a 20-13 record and led the ‘Canes to an appearance in the NIT during his first year at the helm. He also became the first ‘Canes coach to open his UM career with 20 wins. Miami finished 2011 tied for fourth in the ACC, a program best.
Nine scholarship players return to the ‘Canes 2012-13 roster. There are currently six seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and two freshman on the squad.
