As Miami QB Stephen Morris marched the ‘Canes down field in what seemed like a promising comeback, the junior quarterback suffered an ankle injury that would cause him to be sidelined for the remainder of the game.

Following Miami’s loss to the Tar Heels, head coach Al Golden could not provide an immediate update on Morris’ status.

The Miami offense was rallying towards North Carolina territory, when Morris left the game, resulting in backup QB Ryan Williams leading the charge.

Morris was helped off of the field by athletic trainers and was unable to put any weight on his ankle.  He was later seen heavily bandaged and eventually wearing a protective boot.

Williams successfully moved the ball inside UNC territory, but came up short on 4th-and-6.  Williams completed a pass to TE Clive Walford, but the catch was well short of the marker.  The Tar Heels regained the ball and held on to their 18-14 lead as time expired.
