Miami Hurricanes Football: LB Eddie Johnson Will Not Travel To Virginia

As Miami travels to Charlottesville for a conference match-up against Virginia, redshirt freshman Eddie Johnson will remain in Coral Gables.

The Sun Sentinel confirmed on Saturday that Johnson will be suspended for one game and that details are not immediately available.  Johnson did not travel with the team to Virginia.

Johnson’s absence delivered an unexpected blow to the already youthful ‘Canes linebacker corps.  Miami will also be without starter Denzel Perryman (ankle) and S Deon Bush (neck).

BREAKING: The Sun Sentinel has also confirmed that WR Rashawn Scott has been suspended for Miami’s game against Virginia.  According to the Sentinel’s report, “Second-leading receiver Rashawn Scott will not play for a ‘violation of team rules.'”

With a handful of starters either out because of injury or suspension, expect to see Gionni Paul, Thurston Armbrister and Raphael Kirby see action on defense.  Also, with Scott out indefinitely, Davon Johnson will most likely see reps at receiver, along with freshman Herb Waters.

Stay tuned.
