Miami Hurricanes Football: RB Duke Johnson Named Second-Team All-ACC

In what came as somewhat of a surprise, freshman phenom and Miami native Duke Johnson was selected second-team All-ACC as both a running back, as well as a specialist by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).  How Johnson was not named first-team is beyond most Miami fans, but hey, there is always next year, right?

Following the 2012 season, Johnson racked up 947 rushing yards (a Miami freshman record) and ten touchdowns.  He also threw for a touchdown and amassed 221 receiving yards with one touchdown.  Johnson proved deadly on kickoff returns tallying 893 return yards and two touchdowns with a long of 95 yards.

Following Miami’s win against Duke, Johnson was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season.  He rushed for a career-high 176 yards against the Blue Devils and found the end zone three times.

Here is a list of Miami Hurricanes who received honorable mention honors, courtesy of hurricanesports.com:

  • Redshirt sophomore LG Jon Feliciano
  • Junior RT Seantrel Henderson

  • Sophomore LB Denzel Perryman
