UM Welcomes DE Figueroa

Inside The U has confirmed that DE Alex Figueroa has committed to the University of Miami.

Figueroa took a surprise visit to Coral Gables and wound up pledging his commitment to the ‘Canes staff during his visit.  Per Inside The U, “The Miami coaches had been talking to me and then recently decided to bring me down on a visit…After being down in Miami and hanging around the coaching staff and players, I knew that this was the place for me.”

Figueroa (6’2, 210), becomes Miami’s 11th commitment in the 2013 class and can also double as a linebacker.

The Virginia native attended Fork Union Military Academy (current 2013 WR commit Angelo Jean-Louis attends as well) in order to get his grades up and has recently begun to gain interest from schools such as Rutgers, Maryland, Temple and West Virginia according to Inside The U.

In his senior season at Brooke Point, Figueroa amassed 107 tackles and nine sacks.  As a receiver, he totaled 612 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
