Whenever a coaching vacancy comes about, Miami (FL.) head coach Al Golden’s name is automatically thrown into pot of potential candidates. The most recent rumor: Wisconsin has been reaching out to Golden to fill the void left by Bret Bielema. Bielema recently accepted the head coaching position at Arkansas and the Wisconsin coaching search has begun.
Granted, Wisconsin may be interested in Golden, but the current UM coach doesn’t feel the same about the Badgers – at least for the time being.
ESPN’s Joe Schad (@schadjoe) tweeted the following earlier today:
- Wisconsin gauged interest [in] Al Golden according to a source, but he is not entertaining interest from the Badgers or other colleges now.
- Multiple programs have reached out to Al Golden, per source, but he is excited about youthful roster and fact UM is already moving forward.
Alas, Miami fans can breathe a sigh of relief. It appears that Golden is anxious to finish what he has begun at Miami – returning the ‘Canes to dominance. He is a man of his word. The UM skipper has hit the recruiting trail hard and don’t expect him to slow down anytime soon.
