The University of Miami men’s basketball team received a big blow when it was announced that senior C Reggie Johnson will miss 6-8 weeks.
Things haven’t been going as planned with the hoops squad. G Bishop Daniels left the team, the ‘Canes were throttled by Arizona and were then upset by Indiana State. When it rains it pours.
As if things couldn’t get any worse, they just did. The University announced that Johnson suffered a left thumb fracture causing him to miss an extensive amount of time. Miami was without the big man in the Diamond Head Classic going 1-2 in his absence.
USA Today is reporting that “if [the] rehab goes according to plan, it looks like there’s a chance Johnson could return for Miami’s game against Florida State on Feb. 13. He should definitely be back for the ‘Canes’ biggest game down the stretch, a March 2 date with Duke.”
On the season Johnson is averaging 12.6 points per game, 10.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He has only played in seven games.
