Recruiting: JUCO DL Ufomba Kamalu Commits To Miami (FL.)

Butler Community College (KS.) DL Ufomba Kamalu has verbally committed to the University of Miami.

Kamalu was a surprise visitor over the weekend and prior to touring Coral Gables, the 6-5, 280-pound defensive lineman had not yet been offered by the Hurricanes.  While on his visit, UM coaches decided to offer Kamalu and it didn’t take long for him to pledge.

Kamalu told David Lake of Inside The U:

I committed to Miami.  I just think the whole coaching staff cared about the players and everything.  And just the guys that came before me – Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, all of those guys focused on hard work.  Just everything.”

According to 247Sports, the UM staff had been showing interest in Kamalu for some weeks now.  He lists offers from Auburn, West Virginia, Houston and North Texas.

Kamalu is listed as a three-star prospect on the 247Composite and is ranked the No.9 JUCO defensive tackle.  He is currently the only committed defensive tackle in Miami’s 2013 class.
