The Miami Hurricanes (M) basketball team has done what the football team couldn’t seem to do – sell out a game.
The Canes’ (13-3, 4-0 ACC) will host No. 1 Duke (16-1, 3-1 ACC) on Wednesday night at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables. Coming off of big wins against Maryland and Boston College, Miami finds themselves ranked at No. 25 and sitting atop the ACC.
Now you may ask, “How can Miami be ranked higher than Duke in the ACC?” Well the answer is simple: Miami is 4-0 in conference play.
Duke’s only loss of the season comes at the hands of North Carolina State, 84-76. They have beaten the likes of Kentucky, Louisville and Ohio State. There is no doubt that Duke will pose a challenge for Miami, however, the Canes’ have been stellar when at home.
The Blue Devils’ are currently ranked No. 1 in both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll.
Duke is averaging 78.7 points per game (13th best per ESPN) and senior G Seth Curry has scored 20 or more points in three of Duke’s last four conference games.
Some Duke-Miami stats courtesy of Go Duke:
- Duke leads the all-time series, 15-3
- Duke is 15-2 against Miami under Coach K
- The Canes’ won last year’s contest, 78-74
- The Blue Devils have won 15 of the last 17 meetings against Miami
- Seth Curry averages 12.7 points per game against Miami
Miami is currently on a five-game winning streak, three of which have come on the road. On the year, the Canes’ are 7-0 when playing at home this season.
The Canes’ will be without senior C Reggie Johnson who suffered a thumb injury in December.
