UM running back Mike James has been selected to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, held on Jan. 26 in Mobile, Alabama. James has already participated in one postseason bowl, the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, where he rushed for 21 yards.
Playing in the Senior Bowl has its perks. According to the Bowl’s website, two NFL coaching staffs coach the bowl, along with 800 NFL general managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, personnel directors, scouts and other front office personnel from the 32 NFL teams annually attend Senior Bowl Week in Mobile. The 2012 Senior Bowl consisted of Vikings’ head coach Leslie Frazier and Redskins’ head coach Mike Shanahan.
During Miami’s 2012 season, James started all 12 games at running back. The Florida native totaled 621 rushing yards and six touchdowns. The senior running back finished his Miami career with 1,340 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.
James, who was a Miami fan favorite, “will become the 63rd Miami Hurricane to play in the Senior Bowl and the first Canes’ running back since Cleveland Gary in 1989.”
