Men's Basketball: Hurricanes Ranked No. 8 In Latest AP Poll

As the Miami Hurricanes (17-3, 8-0 ACC) continue to plow through the ACC, they suddenly find themselves cracking the top 10.  The latest Associated Press Poll lists Miami at No. 8, while the USA Today Coaches Poll places Miami at No. 11.  Miami was previously ranked No. 14.

The latest AP ranking ties a record set in 1960 when Canes’ was ranked No. 8.  Miami has yet to be ranked higher than 8 in the AP Poll, however, if they continue to dominate in conference play, fans can expect them to bounce even higher.

Miami sophomore G Shane Larkin was named ACC Player of the WeekDuring 38.5 minutes of play, Larkin has averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 assists, 4.0 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 block.

Larkin, who is the son of MLB Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, was selected to the 2011-12 All-ACC Freshman Team and was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 5, 2012.

  • Rebounds per game: 111th (36.5)
  • Assists per game: 265th (11.6)
  • Field goal pct: 79th (.453)
