South Plantation (Fla.) 5-star RB Alex Collins is scheduled to make his college decision Feb. 4 at 10 p.m. eastern time.
Unlike many of the nation’s highly touted prospects, Collins will not be hosting some obscene spectacle on ESPN to announce which school he will be attending; he will instead reveal his choice in Atlanta on FoxSports South.
Rumor has it that Collins’ mother would like him to remain close to home but recently his high school coach has come under fire for allegedly trying to lure Collins to Arkansas.
In his latest Eye on the U post, Collins’ coach Doug Gatewood told Miami Herald sportswriter Manny Navarro:
The questions have gotten so bad now I honestly have tried to avoid him like the plague. As far as I know [Collins] he left for Atlanta. I haven’t seen or spoken to [Collins] him since Friday.”
Collins, who was once committed to Miami, decided to re-open his recruitment citing his apprehension about the current UM investigation. The possibility of sanctions at Miami have weighed heavy on Collins and Arkansas seems to be Miami’s biggest competition in landing the star running back.
Collins will be deciding between Miami and Arkansas.
Considered the No. 1 running back in the nation, per 247Sports, Collins lists offers from Florida State, Wisconsin, Miami, Arkansas, Texas and Florida, to name a few.
Tune in tonight to see where Collins will be heading.
