Basketball: Miami Hurricanes Fall To No. 6 In AP Poll

Following their 79-76 loss against No. 3 Duke on Saturday night, the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team dropped one spot to No. 6 in the latest AP Poll.

Gonzaga (29-2, 16-0 WCC) secured the No. 1 spot following Indiana’s 77-73 loss to Minnesota, while the Hoosiers’ (25-4, 13-3 Big Ten) fell just one spot to No. 2.  Duke (25-4, 12-4 ACC) stayed put at No. 3, while Kansas (25-4, 13-3 Big 12) and Georgetown (23-4, 13-3 Big East) round out the top five.

The Zags’ received 51 first-place votes while Indiana got seven votes followed by the Blue Devils’ with five.

Indiana sat atop the rankings for an impressive nine weeks and Gonzaga’s current No. 1 ranking is the highest in program history.

The Hurricanes’ (23-5, 14-2 ACC) come in at No. 6, while Michigan (24-5, 11-5 Big Ten) ranks No. 7 followed by Louisville (24-5, 12-4 Big East), Kansas State (24-5, 13-3 Big 12) and Michigan State (22-7, 11-5 Big Ten) make up the top ten.

Butler and Louisiana Tech fell out of the top 25.
