The No. 1 seed Miami Hurricanes will face No. 8 Boston College in the quarterfinals on Friday following the Eagles’ 84-64 win over Georgia Tech. Tip off will be at noon in Greensboro, N.C.
Miami had a first-round bye, along with Duke, North Carolina and Virginia, all of whom will begin ACC tournament play on March 15.
The Eagles’ Olivier Hanlan set an ACC tournament record for freshmen scoring an astounding 41-points against Georgia Tech. Hanlan shot 78% from the floor, grabbed five rebounds and had three steals. Not bad. Did I mention that the youngster also drained eight 3-pointers?
The Eagles found themselves trailing by 14-points when they managed a 37-10 run, putting them ahead, 51-38. Hanlan scored 25 points during Boston Colleges’ run leading them to their first 2013 ACC tournament victory.
Should Miami escape Boston College, it is essential that they contain Hanlan.
