For the first time in program history, the Miami Hurricanes earned a trip to the ACC Conference Finals to be played on Sunday, defeating NC State, 81-71.
Miami senior G Durand Scott had a monster game against NC State, scoring a career-high 32 points, 19 of which came in the first-half. Scott went 5-of-8 from downtown and 12-of-18 from the field.
G Shane Larkin added 23 points for the Hurricanes with seven rebounds and four assists.
Miami saw their lead stretch as much as 19 points, however, the Wolfpack would close the gap to 12 at half-time.
Wolfpack F Scott Wood scored 21 points to keep NC State within reach, including going 6-of-10 from 3-point range.
The Hurricanes beat NC State during the regular season, 79-78, thanks to Reggie Johnson‘s last second tip-in. In their lone meeting, the Wolfpack was without PG Lorenzo Brown who had suffered an ankle injury prior to facing Miami.
Brown struggled against the Hurricanes and was held to just six points and went 0-for-6 from the field.
Miami will play the winner of the second ACC semifinal game which features No.7 Maryland vs. No. 3 North Carolina.
