Cincinnati Bearcats’ punter Pat O’Donnell will officially transfer to the University of Miami (FL.).
O’Donnell will graduate from UC later this month and will then complete his final year of eligibility at Miami this coming season. He will transfer to UM as a graduate student.
For those of you wondering how O’Donnell will compare to previous UM punter, Dalton Botts, O’Donnell has no shortage of leg. He was first-team All-Big East in 2011, averaging 43.8 yards per punt. In 2012, O’Donnell was again named All-Big East averaging 41.8 yards per punt.
Bearcats’ head coach Tommy Tuberville told Tom Groeschen:
He [O'Donnell] wants to be more around his parents right now…Miami is closer to home for him…We’ll miss Pat a lot on kickoffs…He was a good kickoff guy.”
O’Donnell, who hails from Palm Beach High School, was a three-year letterwinner in both football and track. He was named co-winner of the 2008 Lou Groza Award for the top kicker in Palm Beach County.
