Basketball: Hurricanes Sign European Point Guard, Emmanuel Lecomte

The Miami Hurricanes’ have searched far and wide for a guard to replace sophomore Shane Larkin.  Their search took them across the pond, where they were successful in landing Belgian G Emmanuel Lecomte.

This week, Jim Larranaga and the Hurricanes’ signed former standout Kansas State G Angel Rodriguez, however due to NCAA transfer rules, Rodriguez may not be able to see the court until the 2014-15 season.

Lecomte’s coach, Paul Vervaeck, told the Sun-Sentinel, “He’s a real point guard…He’s the everything on the court.”

The 5-11, 165-pound guard is only 17 years old, but held offers from Gonzaga, Creighton, UAB and Miami (247Sports).  According to the Sentinel, Lecomte was a member of the U18 team as a 16-year old.  Eurobasket rates Lecomte at 2.5 on a 5-star scale.
