Release: Bryan Radziewski Named To All-ACC First Team

***University of Miami Release***

GREESNBORO, N.C. - Miami Hurricanes’ junior ace Bryan Radziewski was among the five starting pitchers named to the 2013 All-ACC First Team, announced by the conference offices Monday.

Radziewski, in the midst of a dominating junior campaign, ended the season rated among the conference leaders in nearly every statistical category.  The Miami, Fla. native ranked third in ERA (1.64), tied for second in wins (eight), tied for second in complete games (two), third in strikeouts (96) and first in batting average against (.175).

After nearly missing all of 2012 due to season-ending shoulder surgery, Radziewski made a dazzling return to the weekend rotation in a March 23 shutout of then-No. 24 Virginia Tech.  The southpaw struck out 16 Hokies batters, just three shy of the single-game conference record, and earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for his first complete game.  The outing marked the second of three double-digit strikeout performances this season.

Radziewski is one of just three pitchers in the conference averaging ten strikeouts per nine innings (11.27), and has set a new career high with 96 punchouts so far this season.  The former Baseball America Freshman All-American has recorded 204 strikeouts over 33 starts with the Hurricanes, and now boasts a 19-4 all-time record and career ERA of 2.64.

Radziewski’s selection marks the second straight year a Miami pitcher has earned all-conference recognition: Eric Erickson was named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2012.

Miami will mark its return to the diamond Thursday with a Pool A matchup against first-seeded North Carolina at the 2013 ACC Championship in Durham, N.C.  First pitch for the contest, set to be televised live on RSN and ESPN 3, is set for 3 p.m. from Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
