After suffering an ankle injury in Miami’s 14-41 loss against Florida State, the Miami Herald has reported that RB Duke Johnson will miss the remainder of the season.

Johnson was taken off of the field in the third quarter after being stopped on a 4th and 2 inside the red zone.  Johnson found himself on the bottom of a pile and injured his right leg after falling awkwardly.

The sophomore running back rushed for 97 yards against the Seminoles and with Johnson officially out, it is time for the next man to stand up.

Miami has found success with RB Dallas Crawford who filled in for Johnson after he left the game with a concussion vs. North Carolina.  Crawford led the Hurricanes to a late victory against the Heels, rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

This season, Crawford has rushed for 294 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Hurricanes also have a healthy Eduardo Clements and freshman Gus Edwards is expected to see playing time.  Edwards has totaled 185 rushing yards and three touchdowns.  Against Savannah State, Edwards rushed for 113 yards and found the end zone three times.

Miami will face conference rival Virginia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 9, a homecoming game for the Hurricanes.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm ET and will air on ESPN.
