There was a lot of big news coming out of Coral Gables during the Miami Football team’s first day of fall camp. Some positional depth charts were as expected while others had some surprises, everyone is healthy and the Soffer Indoor practice facility is almost ready.

Miami Hurricanes Play-by-play announcer Joe Zagacki summed up the feelings of all Miami Football fans when he sent out a Tweet with a picture of the first practice with the caption that said: “The moment we’ve waited for Canes Football back on the field.”

The Miami football team began the first day of training camp in jerseys and shorts according to Palm Beach Post Hurricanes beat writer Anthony Chiang. Chaing also reported that the Hurricanes are not expected to be in pads until the end of next week.

The depth chart remained the same as they were this spring. As expected Malik Rosier was still first on the depth chart at quarterback. Behind Rosier in the order that quarterbacks participated in drills were N’Kosi Perry, Cade Weldon and Jarren Williams.

Williams should surpass Weldon at some point during training camp. Richt praised the True Freshman for his poise and accuracy during Spring practice.

The Miami offensive line stayed the same as it was during the conclusion of Spring Practice. From left to right the line was Tyree St. Louis at left tackle, Jahair Jones at guard, Tyler Gauthier at center, Hayden Mahoney at guard and Navaughn Donaldson at tackle.

Graduate Transfer Venzell Boulware who has two seasons of eligibility remaining worked in with the second-team offense behind Mahoney at right guard. Gauthier is the only returning starter on the offensive line in the same position as last season.

St. Louis moved from right to left tackle. Donaldson from right guard to right tackle. Donaldson was a True Freshmen All-American at right guard in 2017.
