Manny Diaz and the Miami football staff could be on the verge of adding another star transfer very soon. Diaz and former Virginia Tech star defensive end Trevon Hill have both hinted that he could be headed to the Miami Hurricanes.

A 247Sports article listed Trevon Hill as entering the transfer portal but undecided where he will transfer to. Hill was reportedly seen on the Hurricanes campus this weekend presumably visiting with the Miami football program. Hill is very likely the top defensive lineman in the transfer portal.

Michigan defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon is transferring from Michigan to Tennessee. Solomon is not anywhere close to as productive as Hill was at Virginia Tech. In two-plus seasons with the Hokies, Hill had 94 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Hill was dismissed from Virginia Tech following their upset loss to Old Dominion last season. His indiscretion was never disclosed. Hokies Head Coach Justin Fuente gave the standard Hill was“not upholding the high standards we have for our student-athletes.”

Hill issued his own statement on the dismissal via Twitter. Per Hill’s take on the incident, it was no more than a misunderstanding during a conversation between him and a teammate that was overheard by a member of the Virginia Tech coaching staff. Hill acknowledged his mistake in the incident and regretted it.

Hill’s transgression seems like less than Gerald Willis’ issues at Florida. Hill redshirted as a Freshman in 2015. That would mean he would have only one season of eligibility remaining despite playing in only three games last season. Hill would also have to get immediate eligibility to play one season on the Miami football team.

Diaz and Hill have both posted Tweets in the last week hinting at the big news that could be coming. Hill was very cryptic with his tweets. He seems to be leaning towards Miami if you interpret what he posted. The most obvious one involved a chain, the U emoji with two hands and the eyeball emoji.

Adding Hill to the Miami defensive line would be equivalent to adding an experienced five-star defensive end. Hill and Rising Junior Jonathan Garvin would give Miami one of the best defensive end tandems in the country. That would be significant with Pat Bethel and the inexperienced Jon Ford and Nesta Jade Silvera at defensive tackle.

Next. Miami doesn't have to panic of reach on recruits per Diaz. dark

Miami is also recruiting former UCLA defensive tackle Chigozie Nnoruka. Nnoruka is a graduate transfer with have one season of eligibility remaining. He and Hill would give Manny Diaz and defensive line coach Jess Simpson another year to bolster to the defensive line. Hill, Garvin, Bethel and Nnoruka will be a solid front four.
