Shane Larkin ran fastest (3.08s sprint) & jumped the highest (44″ max vert) at the NBA Combine today.

Turning in a 3.8 second sprint, the 5-11 guard recorded the highest vertical jump at the combine and according to NBA Guru, the second-highest max vertical leap since 2000.

Shane Larkin just recorded the 2nd-highest max vertical leap since 2000– 44 inches. Wow.

Larkin’s teammate at Miami, Kenny Kadji, managed a respectable 38-inch max vertical jump and a 34-inch standing vertical jump.

But it was obvious, even to Kadji, that all eyes were on Larkin.

According to a recent report by Sports Illustrated, the in-state rivalry featuring the Florida Gators’ and the Miami Hurricanes’ may soon be coming to an end.

The Hurricanes’ will play host to the Gators’ on Sept. 7 pairing the two teams against each other for the first time since 2008 when Florida handily beat Miami in Gainesville, 26-3.

Gator’s QB Tim Tebow threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns against the Miami defense and adding 55 rushing yards.

Hurricanes’ athletic director Blake James told SI, “I haven’t spoken with Jeremy or the University of Florida about future games and I don’t know how it would fit into their schedule or fit into ours right now. There hasn’t been any conversation and there isn’t anything on the schedule for the future.”

The Hurricanes’ lead the all-time series winning 28 games against the Gators’ while UF has beaten Miami a total of 26 times. Of 54 total meetings, 25 games have been decided by a touchdown or less.

The Gators’ currently hold an annual rivalry against Florida State, but to Miami fans, nothing compares to the UF-UM rivalry.

The 6-8, 245-pound Kelly attended Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio where he averaged 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds and led his team to the Division II tournament semifinals last season.

Larranaga continues to bring quality talent into Coral Gables after losing sophomore point guard Shane Larkin to the NBA draft. Larranaga also saw the loss of seniors’ Durand Scott, Julian Gamble, Trey McKinney-Jones, Reggie Johnson and Kenny Kadji.

The Hurricanes’ added Belgian PG Manu LeComte (signed) and Kansas State transfer Angel Rodriguez (signed).

Following the addition of Kelly, Larranaga told ESPN, “Our recruiting class in the spring has added a lot of versatility and much-needed skills to our program…We have graduated five outstanding seniors and lost Shane Larkin to the NBA draft, so we did have a lot of holes to fill.”

The Hurricanes’ will also welcome Davon Reed (signed) and Deandre Burnett (signed). 2013 football commits Corn Elder and Derrick Griffin also intend on playing basketball.

Kelly is ranked the No. 5 JUCO power forward and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Ohio (247Composite).

NEW YORK – Miami Hurricanes great and 1986 Heisman Trophy winning QB Vinny Testaverde is one of 14 former players and coaches that will be inducted into the College Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2013.

The National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame made the joint announcement Monday during the telecast of College Football Live on ESPN. The remainder of the 14-member FBS class will be announced Tuesday at noon [during a] press conference from the NASDAQ OMX Market Site in New York City.

One of the greatest quarterbacks in school history, Testaverde was Miami’s first Hesiman Trophy winner in 1986, while also winning the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, Maxwell Award and Davey O’Brien Trophy. He led the Hurricanes to three bowl berths, including the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, which determined the national champion. Testaverde, who was a redshirt on Miami’s 1983 national championship team, went 23-3 as a starter playing for legendary coaches Howard Schnellenberger and Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson.
