Canadian third baseman and 2025 Miami signee Tim Piasentin and incoming Hurricanes transfer pitchers Danny Macchiarola from Holy Cross and Easton Marks from Florida International were all selected in the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.

Piasentin was selected in the fifth round by the Toronto Blue Jays, Macchiarola in the eighth round by the Seattle Mariners and Marks in the 19th round by the Colorado Rockies. Miami shortstop Jake Ogden, leftfielder Max Galvin and rightfielder Derek Williams, who were draft eligible, were not selected.

Getting Galvin, Ogden and Williams back with third baseman Daniel Cuvet will set the foundation for the 2026 Miami lineup. Cuvet, Ogden, Williams and Galvin were the four leading hitters for Miami in that order during the 2025 season.

Piasentin slots in at $503,800 with Toronto if he signs. Perfect Game ranks Piasentin as the 203rd prospect and 57th infielder in the 2025 class out of Coquitlam, Canada. As a fifth-round pick, expect Piasentin to sign with Toronto. Draftees in the first 10 rounds sign at an extremely high rate.

Macchiarola slots in at $224,100. Macchiarola was the 219th-ranked 2025 transfer per 64 Analytics via Christopher Stock of Inside the U. After going 9-5 with a 3.27 earned run average in 16 starts, Macchiarola earned second team All-Patriot League.

Per Stock, Marks is the 217th-ranked transfer and was first-team All-Conference USA in 2025 after going 3-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 15 starts. Marks pitched 67.0 innings, allowing 59 hits, 35 walks and seven hit batters with 72 strikeouts a 1.403 WHIP and a .232 opponent batting average.

Miami has the fifth-best transfer 2025 class in the On3 rankings. The likelihood of losing Macchiarola and Marks will probably knock the 2025 Miami transfer class down in the rankings. Even without Macchiarola, Marks and Piasentin, Miami has a good corps returning in 2026.
