Miami legends, running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Reggie Wayne, are among the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, named on Tuesday. Gore is the only RB and Wayne is one of three WRs who are finalists.

Gore is in his first year of eligibility for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Wayne is in his seventh. Miami has 11 alumni in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The most recent Miami Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees were kick returner Devin Hester and WR Andre Johnson in the 2024 class.

Gore is third all-time in NFL history with 16,000 rushing yards. Only Emmitt Smith with 18,355 rushing yards and Walter Payton with 16,726 had more yards on the ground than Gore. Gore played an NFL record 16 years for a RB and third with nine seasons of 1,000 rushing yards.

Gore finished his Miami career with 1,975 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns and had 23 receptions for 225 yards. Season-ending knee injuries in 2002 and 2003 slowed Gore's development. Finally healthy, Gore ran for 945 yards and had 10 receptions for 106 yards in 2003.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Gore in the third round, 65th overall, of the 2005 NFL draft. Gore made an immediate impact as a rookie with 608 rushing yards and three TDs and 15 receptions for 131 yards. Gore began a streak of four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 2006.

Wayne teamed with Santana Moss to form the greatest duo in Miami history. Wayne finished his Miami career first and is currently third with 173 receptions and is also third in receiving yards behind Xavier Restrepo and Moss with 2,510 receiving yards.

The Indianapolis Colts drafted Wayne in the first round, 30th overall of the 2001 NFL Draft. Wayne is currently 11th in NFL history with 1,070 receptions, 10th with 14,345 receiving yards and 82nd with 68 TD catches. Wayne was earned six Pro Bowl berths and was first-team All-Pro in 2010.

Wayne is also 15th all-time with 21 career playoff starts. Marvin Harrison teamed with Wayne in what will likely eventually be a Hall of Fame receiving tandem. Wayne was part of a Super Bowl XLI title over the Chicago Bears with Indianapolis and the runner-up in SB XLIV to New Orleans.
