Canes Open Charleston Classic Versus Drexel

The Charleston Classic is held in South Carolina and the Canes are looking to win the tournament this season, and that begins with a matchup against Drexel.

"CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The bracket for the 2014 Gildan Charleston Classic has been set and the University of Miami will open play against Drexel on Nov. 20 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.The Canes’ opening game will be aired on ESPNU at 3 p.m. Miami’s second round game will be against either Southern Cal or Akron on Nov. 21. The other four teams competing in the 2014 Classic include Charlotte, Cornell, Penn State and South Carolina.In 2009, Miami won the Charleston Classic with wins over Tulane, UNC Wilmington, and South Carolina – an 85-70 Canes victory in the championship game.The multi-day destination event will feature 12 games over three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracketed-tournament format. ESPN3 will have five exclusive games and ESPNU will air four, while the championship game will be shown on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.The tournament tips off Thursday, Nov. 20 with Southern California (Pac-12) pitted against Akron (Mid-American) at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN3, immediately followed by Drexel (Colonial Athletic) versus Miami (ACC) at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.
