One weekend after hosting nearly 20 of the top recruits in the country, the Canes are set to host a slightly smaller, but very talented, group of prospects this weekend. With signing day looming just around the corner, February 4th, these last few weeks of visits are essential if Miami wants to close out this class well.
Richard McIntosh: DE 6-4/270, Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, FL (Miami Commit)
247sports: 3-star
ESPN: 3-star
Rivals: 3-star
Richard McIntosh is a physical freak to put it simply. He had been playing at only 240lbs until recently due to basketball, but has really added a ton of good weight as his senior year progressed. McIntosh is super athletic and is a very good basketball player too. He uses his big frame to bat down passes whenever he can’t get to the QB. McIntosh was dominant in his senior season after adding weight and finished with 71 tackles and 11 sacks in just 9 games.

Lawrence Cager: WR 6-5/195, Calvert Hall College in Towson, MD (Miami Commit)
247sports: 4-star
ESPN: 4-star
Rivals: 4-star
Lawrence Cager’s 6’5 frame partnered with his 34 inch vertical and 4.5 forty make him a great down field threat. He can run by the DBs or just go up right over them to haul in a catch. Cager can also be the big redzone threat that the Canes have been missing over the last few years. Lawrence Cager should be another great weapon for Kaaya to use. Even after his visit to Alabama, Cager has been openly recruiting for the Canes on social media.

Michael Jackson: CB 6-2/190, Spain Park in Birmingham, AL (Miami Commit)
247sports: 3-star
ESPN: 3-star
Rivals: 4-star
Michael Jackson is a physical corner that uses his size and length to his advantage. He has good ball skills and is an excellent open field tackler. Jackson can play press coverage or can give his man a cushion and be able to come up and make the tackle. He has good speed in addition to the size and hips of a great cornerback prospect. Jackson has been solid to the Canes throughout the process.

Kevin Scott: DT 6-5/280, Bishop Mora Salesian in Los Angeles, CA
247sports: 3-star
ESPN: NR
Rivals: 3-star
Kevin Scott is a very talented defensive tackle that has absolutely blown up in the past few weeks. Scott’s recruitment was relatively quiet until January, when he received offers from Miami on the 15th, Texas on the 17th, and USC on the 19th. Many believe that Scott will end up staying in California and heading to USC, but the Canes definitely have a shot if the can impress him on this visit.

Shelton Johnson: DE 6-5/220, Atlantic in Delray Beach, FL
247sports: 4-star
ESPN: 3-star
Rivals: 3-star
Shelton Johnson is a very good defensive end and can make an instant impact. He has a good frame, but will need to add some weight when he gets to the college level. Johnson is a heavy FSU lean and it will tough for the Canes to land him, especially since he will be visiting FSU on the 30th.

Evan Shirreffs: Pro. QB 6-5/195 Jefferson in Jefferson, GA
247sports: 3-star
ESPN: NR
Rivals: 2-star
Evan Shirreffs has flown under the radar in large part due to a lack of playing time. He broke his thumb early in his junior year, so he didn’t get to fully showcase his talents until his senior season. Shirreffs has prototypical size and is probably the most accurate high school QB that I’ve seen. Every pass is perfectly placed and hits his receivers right in stride. Shirreffs threw 38TDs compared to just 6 INTs in his career.

Junior Day
On Sunday, January 25th, The Miami Hurricanes will host their annual Junior Day event. Just about all of the top 2016 prospects that South Florida has to offer, along with many non-local prospects, will be coming down to enjoy a day on campus and meet with the coaches. Most of Miami’s 2016 commits will be there as well as some of the Canes’ top 2016 targets.
We will have continuing coverage of Junior Day and the official visits here and on twitter @CanesWarningFS.
