Every year ESPN releases its list of the top 300 high school prospects according to their recruiting analysts. The first ESPN300 for the class of 2016 was released today and 9 of the current commits for the Miami Hurricanes made the cut, with 6 being ranked inside the top 100. Only Florida State(10) had more commits than Miami in the initial ESPN300 for 2016.
6’0-195 Tyler Byrd: Athlete from Naples High School
ESPN300 Rank: 39th
Positional Rank: 1st
It surprised quite a few people to see Tyler Byrd as Miami’s highest rated commit, but ESPN really likes his versatility and skill set. Byrd was ranked as the 8th best athlete and 104th overall prospect by ESPN until making this massive jump in the newly released ESPN300. Byrd is listed as an athlete, the highest rated in the country to be exact, and has the ability to succeed on either side of the ball. Tyler Byrd will likely play DB at Miami where he can use his speed and coverage skills.
