There aren’t too many things in the world that I love more than the Miami Hurricanes and hip hop. When you combine the two, it doesn’t get much better. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how the two have such a great relationship. Throughout the years the Canes and hip hop originally formed a bond from what was likely the Uncle Luke days (mid 80’s). It’s not a coincidence that this was about the same time the Canes first began winning national championships. We all know the story about the relationship between Uncle Luke and the Canes from ‘The U: 30 for 30’, so I won’t go into detail on that.

Canes fans like to claim many songs as their own, such as ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ by the Scorpions or even ‘In The Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins because of the memories that it brings back from being played through the speakers in the famous Orange Bowl. However, I’d like to narrow the conversation down to songs that directly relate to the Miami Hurricanes or were produced by Miami Hurricane players. All of the songs I could think of were of the hip hop genre. Even fans that don’t prefer hip hop usually love most of these songs because it relates to their beloved Miami Hurricanes.

The fact that I found 6 songs (there’s likely more out there that I missed) proves how unique the University of Miami truly is. Is there another University in the country that has so many songs directly related to them? If so, I’d like to hear about it.

Lets get to it!

I encourage you to browse through the pages (top right or bottom right arrow) and then vote on your favorite Cane-related song at the end. I also hope this refreshes your memory while you start getting your Canes tailgate mix ready for the season. Enjoy!
