Wide Receivers

Wait, the Canes still have play-makers on offense after losing such valuable assets as Johnson, Walford, and Dorsett to the NFL? Yes they do.

The coaching staff has done well in recruiting the wide receiver position in their tenure. Miami is returning key players such as: Herb Waters, Stacy Coley, Malcolm Lewis, Braxton Berrios, and Rashawn Scott. The fan favorite, Stacy Coley, suffered a “sophomore slump” after an incredible freshman season where he produced 1400 plus yards. Lewis and Waters have shown dependability and most importantly play making ability in past seasons. Berrios isn’t the only sophomore that can see some playing time this season.

Miami has big bodies with Tyre Brady (6’3) and Darrell Langham (6’4) fighting for opportunities. Also, Miami is bringing in Army All-American from Maryland, Lawrence Cager.

However, I think the difference maker in this corp will be return of Rashawn Scott — who sat out last season due to injury. Scott is a leader and veteran who could take the reigns of the wide receivers in production. Scott contains the physical tangibles, but can he stay healthy? There is no doubt Brad Kaaya has adequate targets to throw to.
