Gus Edwards – Running Back
Much like Dobard, Gus Edwards will be trying to replace some of the production that Duke Johnson was able to accomplish last season for the Hurricanes. Nobody expects Edwards to do the things that Johnson did as a Hurricane, but his hype has grown a lot since the beginning of camp.
Many people believe that Edwards has taken the right steps in his development and will now explode onto the scene as the Hurricanes’ primary running back. Edwards is up to 240 pounds and he says that it has not affected his speed or quickness in any way.
Edwards will be competing with Joseph Yearby and freshman Mark Walton all through camp, but I believe he gets the nod against Bethune Cookman. Miami will be looking for the hot running back the majority of the time, and it’s up to Gus Edwards to show the coaches how much he has improved. I think he’s ready.
