2. With Braxton Berrios still out, which offensive player needs to step up for Miami?
Juan Toribio: I kind of have two answers for this question. If I have to pick a player, I would say Stacy Coley because he’s really the only speed threat the ‘Canes have on the outside right now, and that’s an important element to the Miami offense. But if I had to pick, I would just go with the traditional pick; the offensive line. The Miami offensive line has struggled and they’ll have to play a lot better against Nebraska for Miami to have any kind of success offensively. If the offensive line holds up, Miami will be in good shape.
Daniel Gould: Against FAU Miami’s WRs only caught one pass beyond 12 yards of the LOS. Stacy Coley needs to change this, starting in the Nebraska game. There needs to be some type of vertical element to this offense or the team is really going to struggle against better defenses.
Shanon Culiner: With Berrios out, I’d like to see Herb Waters make more of an impact. Though Waters currently has 7 receptions for 112 yards (throughout the past two games), I’d like to see him be the “it” guy. Teams such as FAU and Bethune should be a straight-up highlight reel for such talented players. Rashawn Scott stepped-up against Bethune-Cookman and Waters was the leading receiver against FAU, but after this season, that’s it (for both Waters and Scott). Waters is a senior so this has to be his year. Impress the pro scouts!
Justin Fessenden: There really isn’t another receiver on the roster that is similar in style to Braxton Berrios, so he can’t be replaced. Stacy Coley has a few similarities to Berrios (shiftiness) so I’d like to see him step up with Berrios out. The problem here is Coley was injured in game 1 as well and I’m not sure he’ll be a 100% for this weeks game vs Nebraska. I’d like to see Coley leave it all out on the field and put up some big numbers vs. the Huskers.
Daniel Nordwall: I think this a game were Brad Kaaya needs to lead the team to victory. With the two excellent games by Yearby and Walton, Nerbaska is likely to stack the box. The sophomore quarterback will need his receivers to come up big in this game. This is an opportunity for Brad Kaaya to prove to everyone that he can take the next step in his game.
