Wide Receiver, #8 Kermit Whitfield

Kermit Whitfield is a little guy, listed at 5’8″ and 184 pounds, however, the junior receiver can flat out run. Coming out of an Orlando, FL high school in the 2013 class, Whitfield clocked a 4.37 40-yard dash.

Though he’s listed as a wide receiver on the FSU roster, Florida State likes to use the dynamic Whitfield in many ways: receiving, rushing and returning punts.

This year, Whitfield has caught 11 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. He’s rushed twice for 19 yards and has returned 7 punts for 257 yards, averaging 36.7 yards per punt return.

Against Miami last year, Whitfield had 1 rush attempt for 7 yards and 3 receptions for 60 yards. And he returned 3 kickoffs for 72 yards.
