Coming off back to back losses, especially after losing to a rivals FSU in which we nearly won, Miami football has currently lost lots of its luster.

Nevertheless, the Miami Hurricanes take on Virginia Tech this Saturday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m. (eastern time) on ESPNU.

A game that used to have a lot of meaning in its own right, this matchup to me looks more like just two average ACC teams going at it. Like Miami, the Hokies don’t appear as anything special this year with a record of 3-3. They’ve already lost to Ohio State, Pitt, and East Carolina.

However, the Hokies’ have been without their starting quarterback, Michael Brewer. But, he is listed as probable against the ‘Canes and may get the start.

Brewer suffered a severe collarbone injury in this year’s opening game against the Buckeyes.

The ‘Canes (and I bite my tongue for saying this) should beat Virginia Tech with or without Brewer. Miami’s offense looks to be more explosive with more talent. And, I’d hope Miami would like to salvage whatever’s left and try to turn this season around.

This VaTech game is a character game. A game to get the wheels turning again before meeting with the number five team in the nation, Clemson.

Last year, Miami spanked VaTech, 30-6. Running back Duke Johnson was spectacular. And, I’d love to see a similar type of performance from Joseph Yearby and Mark Walton.

With that said, let’s take a look at the “Top 4” highlights from last year’s matchup in Blacksburg, VA:
