Offense

If you watched any of Miami’s games this season, you would figure out that the offensive line wasn’t very good this season. The loss of Ereck Flowers, Shane McDermott, and Jon Feliciano made the drop-off in depth evident. Also, Miami kicked starting right tackle Taylor Gadbois off the team prior to the season. With inexperience, there comes a learning curve. Due to this, James Coley called majority of the snaps from the shotgun or pistol. The starting offensive line consisted mostly of: LT Trevor Darling, LG Nick Linder, C Alex Gall, RG Danny Isidora, RT Sunny Odogwu and with a sprinkle of Kc McDermott and Joe Brown. Yardage didn’t come easy for Joe Yearby and Mark Walton this season.

Here are the  rushing offensive statistics

  • Avg of 3.6 yards per carry this season
  • 18 touchdowns
  • 1434 rushing yards on 394 carries
  • 117th ranked in rush offense

Those stats are alarming for any offense that wants to be productive. Luckily, Brad Kaaya has been consistent for most of the year:

  • 221 completions – 358 attempts -61.7% completion rate
  • 3019 passing yards
  • 15 TDs and 4 INTs
  • Sacked 12x

If not for the passing game, Miami would not be 8-4. Also, Brad Kaaya has taken care of the ball extremely well this season. However, the emergence of wide receivers Rashawn Scott, Stacy Coley, Herb Waters and David Njoku have made a major impact this season in the passing game. Give credit to Kevin Beard. Compared to last year, the production level has increased significantly. Only 2 receivers had over 600 yards (Phillip Dorsett and Clive Walford).

Stacy Coley – 44 rec/ 645 yards/3 TDs

Rashawn Scott – 47 rec /620 yards / 5 TDs

Herb Waters – 38 rec/ 607 yards/ 1 TD

David Njoku – 20 rec /361 yards/ 1 TD
