Steve Walsh

Walsh went 23-1 in two years as the Miami Hurricanes’ starting quarterback, leading his team to a National Title in his sophomore year (against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl in 1988).

In those two years, the All-American threw for 5,364 yards and 49 touchdowns.

He redshirted his freshman year, backed up Vinny Testaverde the following year and the rest was history.

With one year of eligibility left at Miami, Walsh decided to declare for the 1989 NFL Supplemental Draft and was picked in its first round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Walsh played in the NFL up until the end of the 1999 season with the Indianapolis Colts.

He was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and UM Football Ring of Honor in 2009.
