Russell Maryland

Maryland was an intimidating force of nature and played at Miami from 1987 to 1990.

During his senior season, he was the first ‘Canes player to ever win the Outland Trophy (top interior lineman in college football), a consensus First-Team All-American and a UPI Lineman of the Year. He was also a member of two National Championships (1987 & 1989).

He finished his career at Miami with 279 tackles (25 tackles for a loss) and 20.5 quarterback sacks.

Maryland was drafted No. 1 overall by the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 and helped them to 3 Super Bowl Championships (XXVII, XXVIII & XXX).

He played in the NFL for 10 seasons and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1993.

Maryland was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

Warren Sapp

Another highly decorated player, the outspoken Sapp played for the ‘Canes from 1992 to 1994.

At Miami, Sapp earned a Lombardi Award, two-time First-Team All-BIG EAST honors, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Bill Willis Award, an Outland Trophy Finalist, BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year (FWAA).

He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round (12th overall) and helped lead them to a Super Bowl Championship (XXXVII)

Playing in the NFL for 13 seasons, primarily with the Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, Sapp made the Pro Bowl seven-times, a four-time First-Team All-Pro and an NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Sapp was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013, inducted into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor in 2013 and the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
