Cornerbacks

Ryan McNeil

McNeil played at Miami from 1989 to 1992 and was a key contributor on defense, which helped the ‘Canes win two National Championships (1989 & 1991).

After his final two season, he was named All-BIG EAST. And after his final season, McNeil was a consensus First-Team All-American and a Jim Thorpe Semi-Finalist.

He was drafted in the second round (33rd overall) by the Detroit Lions and played in the NFL for 11 seasons. He was also the NFL interceptions leader in 1997 and made the Pro Bowl in 2001.

McNeil was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

Duane Starks

Starks only played as a ‘Cane from 1996 to 1997 due to issues with college credits early on as a student.

Nevertheless, once at Miami he proved that he was one of the most elite defensive backs to come out of The U.

In 1998, the Baltimore Ravens drafted Starks in the first round (10th overall) and he later helped the Ravens to a Super Bowl Championship (XXXV), even making a pick-six to finish off the New York Giants.
