Centers

Brett Romberg

Romberg played at The U from 1998 to 2002 and was a key reason for their dominance in the early 2000s.

He was the winner of the 2002 Dave Rimington Award (and one of five finalist the year before, in 2001), an honor for college football’s best center and he was a consensus First-Team All-American his senior season. He was also a three-time First-Team All-BIG EAST performer.

What’s amazing about Romberg is that he never allowed a quarterback sack in his entire college career.

Romberg was part of the 2001 National Title.

He played in the NFL for 9 seasons.

Romberg was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Jim Otto

Otto played at Miami from 1957 to 1959 and was an All-State center and linebacker.

Looking back at Otto during his playing days, he was considered one of the best NFL players to ever play.

He played with the Oakland Raiders from 1960 to 1974 and played in 12 All-Star Games (9 AFL All-Star Games and 3 Pro Bowls), was a 12 straight All-League Selection and a Pro Football Hall of Famer (inducted in 1980).

Otto was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1972.
