The Miami Hurricanes are set to play Washington State in the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX on December 26, 2015 at 2 p.m. (EST), yet, not many ‘Canes fans know too much about this program.

I have to be honest with you, originally when I heard Miami had to play WSU matched in a bowl located in El Paso, I wasn’t too excited. I mean, how many Miami fans would actually travel to a west Texas border-town over the holidays to root against a team they’ve rarely heard of?

My answer is: not many.

Nevertheless, this opponent deserves to be there as much as Miami does thus, they’re needing a thorough background check.  And, let’s face it, the way Miami has been so Jekyll and Hyde this year, they may easily find themselves on the losing end of this battle.

Though not much is known about Washing State to the Miami faithful, I personally know that the opponent is called the Cougars, their colors are red and white, they’re nicknamed “wazzu,” they play in the Pac 12 and like Miami, they possess a record of 8-4. But, other than that I draw blanks.

This will actually be the first time in school history that both teams meet.

Another thing I know for sure is that the ‘Canes could sure use the win. The Hurricanes need to snap a five-game bowl losing streak.

In fact, the last time Miami has won a bowl game was in the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl (Boise, Idaho) against Nevada, 21-20 under coach Larry Coker.

This season has come with its ups and downs, but it sure would be nice to handoff newly hired head coach Mark Richt (who will not coach in this bowl game) a 9-4 team as opposed to an 8-5 team.

So, let’s take a look at this rather unknown team, getting an inside look at the players that make them worthy opponents.
