Miami Hurricanes: 10 Reasons All High School Football Recruits Should Want To Be A ‘Cane Come National Signing Day
Rivalries
The Miami Hurricanes have had some heated pasts with some great college programs.
Since 2002, the Florida Cup has been awarded to the team that finishes with the best head-to-head record in years where Miami, Florida and FSU all play each other in the same season. But, that doesn’t have anything to do with all the other intense battles between Miami and the two other in-state schools.
Miami and FSU have played every season since 1966 (Miami leading the series, 31-29) and from 1983 to 2002, the ‘Canes and ‘Noles have combined for 7 National Championships and 14 bowl games (with a National Championship at stake).
The ‘Canes rivalry with Florida dates back to 1938 and UM also leads the series, 29-26.
Many players on Florida, FSU and Miami had grown up, played pop-warner and high school football both together and against one another. So, you can bet your tail off that when they see each other as opponents at different schools (based in the state of Florida), the game is going to be one intense battle.
Nevertheless, the rivalries don’t just limit themselves in-state. Miami has a rivalry against: Notre Dame, Nebraska and Virginia Tech. And, one could argue there’s a Miami rivalry with Ohio State and Oklahoma too.
