Offensive Line

Miami had an unstereotypical abysmal offense last season. They finished 117th nationally in rushing offense (119.1 yards per game), 107th in third down completion percentage (.350), 80th in total first downs and dead last (127th) in penalties per game  This is not a formula for success. These statistics largely contributed to inconsistencies on the offensive line.

The poor offense was largely contributable to inconsistencies on the offensive line. Miami returns an experienced offensive line. According to Phil Steele’s College Football blog, Miami’s offensive line ranks 25th in career starts nationally. The veterans include Trevor Darling (Left Tackle), KC McDermott (Left Guard), Nick Linder (Center), Danny Isidora (Right Guard), and Sunny Odwogu or Tyree St. Louis. Isidora and St. Louis are battling for the starting position at Right Tackle.

Depth on the offensive line is a concern. Can Bar Milo, Jahir Jones, Hayden Mahoney, Hunter Knighton, or Alex Gall provide reliability as backups? The new offensive line coach Stacy Searles has one of the most difficult tasks as an assistant coach to create a respectable unit to protect Kaaya and open holes in the running game.
