Tight End

The tight end position is one of the most talented groups in the entire unit. David Njoku, Christopher Herndon, and Standish Dobard offer skill sets that Mark Richt will utilize. At Georgia, Richt used 22 personnel,  a base offense that uses two tight ends, Richt can deploy Dobard and Herndon for the power run game.

Herndon impressed the coaching staff with two touchdowns in the spring game. His versatility and ability to block allow Herndon to play the H-back position and some fullback.  At 6’4 and 245 pounds, Njoku’s skill sets are very similar to NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski. Njoku’s athleticism, speed, and size put linebackers, safeties, and corners at a disadvantage in coverage. Njoku and Herndon should make a significant impact for the Hurricanes offense this season.
