Hurricanes Performing Well in Rio

Carolina Perez-Soccer

Perez’ selection to the Olympic team is her second appearance with the Colombian national team. She didn’t play in Rio, but she got valuable experience in the World Cup last summer. She shutout the United States for a half in the knockout round before getting red carded  (ejected) for taking down American Alex Morgan.

Perez was playing because starting Columbia’s starting Goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda had two yellow cards in their first two games.

Although Dorman was the only one that earned a medal, the Olympicanes showed why the U has one of the best sports programs in the country. These Olympians participation should help Miami’s recruiting in the individual sports the athletes competed in and the entire athletic department overall.
