Ryan Braun, Baseball, 2003-2005

Braun was an All-American for Miami in 2003 and 2005. He led UM with a .364 batting average, 17 home runs, and 76 RBIs and was named the National Freshman of the Year by Baseball America in 2003. Braun became the third Miami Freshman to receive the award. He was preceded by Alex Fernandez and Pat Burrell.

Braun struggled as a sophomore but bounced back as a junior. He hit .396 with 18 home runs, 76 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases. He was a finalist for the Golden Spikes award and was the 2005 ACC Player of the Year. Braun was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He won the 2007 NL Rookie of the Year and 2011 NL MVP award.
