Steve Edwards, Basketball, 1992-1996
Edwards spent four injured plagued seasons at Miami. Edwards 265 career three-point field goals rank second in Big-East history. He averaged 11.6 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 2.5 APG in his final three collegiate seasons. Edwards came to Miami as the two-time Florida Mr. Basketball.
Edwards got off to a good start in his Miami career, being named to the Big East All-Freshman team in 1992-93. His freshman season turned out to be his best. He led the team with 15.9 PPG and 79 three-pointers made. Despite the injuries, Edwards still led the ‘Canes in scoring three of his four seasons.
Edwards was a part of Miami’s first post-season appearance in1995 since the basketball program returned after a 15-year hiatus in 1986. The ‘Canes lost in the first round of the NIT.
