17. Warren Sapp (1992-1994)

A consensus All-American and one of the most decorated Miami Hurricane’s to ever don the Orange and Green. Like Hendricks before him, Sapp was the only defensive player to finish in the top ten in the Heisman Trophy voting. He finished sixth in 1994. Sapp became the only Miami player to ever win the Lombardi Trophy that awards the best lineman or linebacker each year in college football.

Was the leader of a very good Miami defense in 1994. The Hurricanes allowed 11.9 points per game that seasons, second in the nation. Miami would lose to ranked Nebraska 24-17 in the Orange Bowl.

Sapp finished his Hurricane career with 176 tackles and 19.5 sacks. Sapp was selected in the first-round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1995 and earned seven Pro Bowl selections during the course of his NFL career.

He was also one of the leaders of a very stout Buccaneers defense that made an unlikely run to a Super Bowl title in 2002. The Buccaneers led the NFL allowing 12.3 points per game. They gave up 37 points in three games in their run to their only Super Bowl title.

Sapp was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
