6. Jim Morris

Morris is one of two coaches who have led the Miami baseball program in 53 of the last 54 seasons. Ron Fraser led the Miami baseball program for 30 years from 1963-1992. Longtime Fraser assistant Brad Kelley led the ‘Canes to a 36-22 record in his one season in 1993, before Morris was hired by Dee to take over. He has led Miami baseball program since then.

In 23 seasons as Head Coach, Morris has 1,031 wins, 419 losses and three ties. His .711 winning percentage is second in school history to Fraser. Under Morris’ guidance, the Hurricanes captured National Championships in 1999 and 2001.He is currently 240 wins behind Fraser for the most wins in school history.

Morris 1,535 wins overall rank him seventh in college baseball history. Morris has continued the long line of Miami excellence on the diamond. The Hurricanes have appeared in 44 consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

Under Morris, the Hurricanes have advanced to 13 College World Series, including a current streak of two consecutive. The advanced to the CWS in Morris’ first six seasons with the Hurricanes. That set a Hurricanes record for consecutive appearances.

Under Morris’ leadership the Hurricanes have had over 40 All-Americans, dozens of players reach the Major Leagues and numerous MLB All-Stars.
