25. Jim Larranaga (2011-Present)
The Men’s Basketball Coach since 2011, he is the only coach in school History to lead the Hurricanes to two Sweet 16’s and its only coach to ever lead the Miami Hurricanes to an outright conference championship.
The 2013 team went 29-7, 15-3 in the ACC regular season and also captured the school’s only conference tournament title when the also won the ACC Tournament.
Larranaga is 134-65 in his six-plus seasons with the Hurricanes. They played in the 2013 and 2016 NCAA Tournaments where they advanced to the Sweet 16. He is attempting to become only the second coach in Miami history to lead the school to back to back NCAA Tournament appearances.
Under’s Larranaga’s guidance at Miami, three former Hurricanes have played in the NBA. The Hurricanes appear to be headed to their best era under “Coach L”. That number should go up significantly in the next few seasons.
The Providence Friar alum has had a remarkable coaching career. He led arguably the biggest underdog in NCAA Tournament history, George Mason to the Final Four in 2006.
When he was hired by Miami at age 62, it began his first job in a Power Conference. He has led a remarkable revitalization of Miami basketball.
